Pretoria, 14 June 2023 (TDI): South Africa’s Cabinet has officially nominated Advocate Thembile Elphus Joyini as the country’s esteemed candidate to stand for election as a Judge for the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS).
On June 14, 2023, Head of Public Diplomacy, Clayson Monyela, expressed his pride and announced the achievement by stating, “Another South Africa Foreign Policy achievement/milestone. Advocate TE Joyini has been elected to serve as a judge on ITLOS for 9 years.”
Adv Joyini had the honor and privilege of serving as a Judge of the High Court of South Africa in Pretoria, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field of adjudication. Adv Joyini’s impressive track record in the legal field equips him to contribute significantly to the work of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.
