Islamabad: The Ambassador of Somalia to Pakistan, Sheikhnur Mohamed Hassan, on Tuesday, expressed gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for their sustained support and cooperation, underscoring the strong and friendly relations between the two brotherly countries.
The appreciation came during a courtesy call by the Somali envoy on Defense Minister Khawaja Asif. The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting the longstanding ties and mutual respect shared by Pakistan and Somalia.
During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including regional and international developments, bilateral cooperation, and prospects for further strengthening relations.
Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and Somalia, noting that the relationship is anchored in shared values, historical bonds, and strong people-to-people connections.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Somalia’s efforts toward peace, stability, and national development. The minister emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to assisting Somalia in capacity-building initiatives, particularly in areas such as security, governance, and institutional strengthening.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance in favor of peace and stability in the Horn of Africa, recognizing Somalia’s central role in regional security.

Ambassador Sheikhnur Mohamed Hassan, in turn, thanked Pakistan for its consistent diplomatic, political, and moral support for Somalia over the years.
He appreciated Pakistan’s contributions toward peace and development in his country, noting that Pakistan has remained a reliable partner during challenging times.
The ambassador also acknowledged Pakistan’s role in supporting Somalia at various international forums and its efforts to help strengthen Somali institutions.
The Somali envoy conveyed his government’s desire to further expand bilateral cooperation with Pakistan across multiple sectors, including defense, education, trade, and capacity-building.
He expressed confidence that enhanced collaboration would bring tangible benefits to both nations and further cement their friendly ties.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations through sustained engagement, high-level exchanges, and practical cooperation.
They agreed that closer coordination and dialogue would help address shared challenges and open new avenues for collaboration in the future.
