Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan Railways Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Aamir Ali Baloch said on Wednesday that train delays are mainly due to smog and bad weather.
He was speaking during an online public forum, which attracted over 26,000 participants, with around 7,300 comments submitted.
During the discussion, Baloch assured the public that he was personally monitoring train schedules.
“We are working to address all issues causing delays,” he added.

To improve passenger experience, the CEO announced that the names and phone numbers of train managers will soon be displayed on all trains.
The CEO said that passenger safety was Pakistan Railways’ top priority.
“Even when airports and motorways are closed, Pakistan Railways keeps operating,” he said.
He also revealed plans to upgrade two to three trains and introduce a new train with fewer stops.
“We are committed to providing the best possible services with the resources available,” Baloch stated.

He mentioned that the work on the ML-1 project would begin in two to three months. He further mentioned that closed train services were being gradually restored.
He highlighted ongoing discussions on regional connectivity projects worth billions of dollars.
“Work on the Thar Coal project is also progressing rapidly,” he added.
