Singapore’s Envoy Presents Credentials to President Zardari

Islamabad (TDI): The High Commissioner-designate of Singapore, Ishak Bin Ismail, formally presented his diplomatic credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari, during a ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.

The ceremony, held at the Presidency, saw ambassadors-designate from Cuba, Ethiopia, Portugal, Spain and Tanzania, along with the High Commissioner-designate of Singapore, present their diplomatic credentials.

The envoys were welcomed with a guard of honor upon arrival, followed by the playing of national anthems and a ceremonial parade before the formal presentation.

Congratulating the diplomats on the start of their assignments, President Zardari expressed confidence that their tenure would contribute to deepening engagement between Pakistan and their respective countries.

In a bilateral meeting after the presentation of credentials, President Zardari warmly welcomed the Singaporean envoy and expressed Pakistan’s desire to deepen cooperation with Singapore across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, technology, and education.

President highlighted Pakistan’s strategic geographic location and its potential as a hub for regional connectivity and economic activity. He emphasized that enhanced collaboration with Singapore, a global leader in innovation, finance, and urban development, could yield mutual benefits and open new avenues for partnership.

High Commissioner Ishak Bin Ismail conveyed greetings from the leadership of Singapore and reaffirmed his country’s interest in expanding ties with Pakistan.

He noted that Singapore views Pakistan as an important partner in South Asia and expressed optimism about fostering closer economic and diplomatic engagement during his assignment.

The Singaporean envoy also acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to improve its investment climate and expressed confidence in the potential for greater business-to-business linkages.

Ishak Bin Ismail is the non-resident High Commissioner-designate to Pakistan, and is also simultaneously holding national portfolios including the Chairman of the National Maritime Safety at Sea Council and Chair of the Families for Life Council. He retired from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in 2011 after serving for 29 years as a Brigadier-General.
