Sindh to Support Ethiopian Embassy’s Plantation Campaign

Karachi (TDI): Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of Ethiopia to Pakistan, Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, held a meeting with the Governor of Sindh province, Kamran Tessori, to discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Their discussion focused on enhancing the bilateral and multilateral cooperation in key sectors such as trade, investment, aviation, energy and climate change.

On the occasion, Ambassador Beker briefed the Governor about launch of this year’s Green Legacy Initiative by Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed in June under the theme ‘Renewal through Planting’.

He said Ethiopia had planted more than 40 billion seedlings of various species since 2019, setting a target of planting over 7.5 billion seedlings, this year which would not only expand its green cover but also ensure food security and create more jobs in the country.

To foster deeper bilateral relations, the Ambassador proposed to launch a joint plantation and awareness campaign in Sindh under the theme of “Ethio-Pakistan Fraternity under the Green Legacy Initiative”.

The Governor said the Governor House will fully cooperate with the Ethiopian Embassy in launching the joint plantation and awareness campaign, stressing the importance of public mobilization in this regard.

He noted the growing relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan, emphasizing on enhanced the bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
