Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday instructed Pakistani embassies in Gulf countries to remain fully accessible to assist Pakistani citizens amid the evolving regional situation.
Chairing a meeting on the evacuation of Pakistani nationals from Iran and issues concerning Pakistanis living in Gulf states, the prime minister stressed that diplomatic missions must stay prepared to provide immediate support to citizens when needed.
During the meeting, participants briefed the prime minister on the progress of evacuation efforts from Iran. Officials informed him that Pakistani nationals were returning home safely and that the Pakistani Embassy in Azerbaijan was actively facilitating the process.
Prime Minister Sharif also expressed appreciation to Azerbaijan for its cooperation and assistance in helping Pakistan evacuate its citizens from Iran.
The meeting was informed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring developments in the region and coordinating efforts to assist Pakistanis abroad. Officials also shared updates on steps taken by Pakistani missions in Gulf countries to support members of the Pakistani community.

Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the government had taken proactive measures to help Pakistani nationals stranded in various locations and to ensure the safe evacuation of citizens from Iran.
He said the Crisis Management Unit (CMU) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was operating around the clock to monitor the situation and provide assistance where required.
On the prime minister’s directives, special facilitation desks have been established at Pakistan’s diplomatic missions abroad to support Pakistani nationals with visa processing, travel arrangements, and logistical assistance.

The spokesperson added that embassies had also introduced dedicated helplines, registration portals, and digital platforms to enable timely communication and assistance. Pakistani missions are coordinating closely with host governments to ensure necessary consular support for the Pakistani diaspora.
The government, he said, remains committed to protecting the welfare of overseas Pakistanis and ensuring their safe and timely return when required.
