PM Shehbaz Orders Action Against Sugar Mills, Dealers

Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday issued key directives to curb tax evasion, undocumented sales, and price hikes in the sugar sector.

In a notification issued today, the premier instructed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Intelligence Bureau (IB) to launch joint operations.

With the crushing season beginning, the Prime Minister ordered a 100% recovery of General Sales Tax (GST) from mills and dealers. He also announced the installation of cameras in sugar mills.

“This will prevent hoarding and stabilize prices,” he said.

The premier warned of strict legal action against sugar mill owners involved in tax evasion and hoarding.

“Monitor production and storage through cameras. Ensure sales tax payment,” the prime minister emphasized.
