PM Shehbaz to Join World Economic Leaders’ Dialogue at Davos Today

Davos (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to attend the World Economic Forum’s Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders today, where discussions will focus on “Restoring a Spirit of Dialogue in a Divided World,” according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The PM is on a three-day visit to Davos from January 20 to 22, leading a high-level Pakistani delegation to the 56th Annual Session of the WEF. The delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

During his visit, PM Shehbaz is scheduled to meet International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and hold discussions with several global leaders on the sidelines of the forum. He is also expected to attend and address a breakfast event involving international stakeholders.

The prime minister arrived in Davos on Tuesday. In a message shared on social media, he said the visit aimed to strengthen Pakistan’s engagement with global trade and investment partners at the WEF.

Highlighting Pakistan’s economic outlook, PM Shehbaz said the country’s reform program was opening up significant opportunities, supported by a resilient and entrepreneurial workforce and strong potential in sectors such as energy, agriculture, minerals, and emerging technologies. He added that Pakistan was ready to convert this potential into long-term, mutually beneficial economic partnerships.

According to the Foreign Office, the prime minister will also host and chair a Pakistan-focused high-level business roundtable during the visit, bringing together leading international corporate figures.

The Foreign Office said the prime minister’s engagements will centre on presenting Pakistan’s perspective on global and regional peace and development, while outlining the government’s economic vision, reform agenda, and investment opportunities.
