Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif extended felicitations to the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, on assuming office for the 7th term.
In a post on X, PM Shehbaz expressed warm wishing to the President and said, “I look forward to continue working with him to further strengthen our bilateral ties, particularly in trade and investment, for the prosperity, progress and well-being of our peoples.”
Bilateral relations between Pakistan and Belarus picked momentum after last year’s high-level trip of President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Pakistan.

The ceremony for the President’s inauguration was held in the Palace of Independence in Belarus’s capital city. The largest hall in the Palace, Ceremonial Hall, was chosen for this occasion, with 1100 guests who were invited for this prestigious ceremony.
The Presidential elections were held in January, in which Lukashenko won with 87% of the total votes casted.
In the ceremony, Lukashenko said that the country has more democracy than those who criticize Belarus.
On his three-day visit to Pakistan in November 2024, President Lukashenko received a guard of honor. A range of agreements were signed in sectors including trade, economy, environment, science and technology.

In addition to the fifteen Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreement, an extradition treaty was also concluded.
PM Shehbaz and President Lukashenko held extensive bilateral talks on all matters of interest between Belarus and Pakistan. Afterwards, Pakistan-Belarus Business Forum was also held, which was co-chaired by Pakistan’s Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Belarus Energy Minister Aleksei Kushnarenko.
During his visit to Pakistan, Lukashenko remarked, “Belarus has the technologies to meet the needs of Pakistan, maybe not just today, but maybe even tomorrow. So we’re ready to share our technologies with (Pakistan),”
