PM Chairs Aid Review Meeting for Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon

Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday chaired a review meeting on Pakistan’s aid efforts for Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon.

PM Shehbaz added that Pakistan will send additional tents and blankets for the upcoming winter to those suffering from Israeli aggression in the Middle Eastern countries.

He announced that 3,000 tents and 12,000 blankets would soon be dispatched.

The premier directed Pakistan’s ambassadors in neighbouring countries to submit reports on the required numbers of tents and blankets. Additionally, Pakistan is sending food supplies and medicine to the affected areas.

The Prime Minister expressed concern over Israel’s efforts to obstruct aid from reaching Palestinians. He condemned these actions as alarming and unacceptable.

He praised the NGOs working with the government to deliver aid and highlighted the importance of maintaining quality in the supplies being sent. He stressed that the tents must be fireproof.

The Prime Minister instructed Pakistan’s ambassadors in neighbouring countries to ensure swift and efficient delivery of the aid.

He warned that the escalating Israeli aggression threatens to engulf the entire region. He called on global powers to intervene immediately and stop Israel’s actions. The Prime Minister stated that history shows world wars have been triggered by the silence of global powers in the face of such conflicts.

The meeting, held in Islamabad, included briefings from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

These shipments contained 3,145 tents, 12,625 blankets, food items, powdered milk, and medicine. An additional 3,000 tents and 12,000 blankets will be sent in the next three flights.

The Prime Minister was also informed that the first group of Palestinian medical students had arrived in Lahore, with another group recently reaching Islamabad. He instructed that measures be taken to ensure Palestinian students are provided with education opportunities in various fields at Pakistani universities.

The Prime Minister directed that the number of aid supplies be increased; particularly fireproof tents and blankets to protect against the winter cold. He reiterated that the quality of aid items must not be compromised.
