PM Shehbaz Calls Tarique Rahman to Congratulate on Election Victory

Lahore (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Tarique Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and conveyed his heartfelt congratulations on the party’s decisive victory in Bangladesh’s recent general elections.

The Prime Minister extended felicitations on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan, describing the outcome as historic.

He also congratulated the people of Bangladesh for the peaceful and successful conduct of the polls, noting that the process reflected the democratic aspirations and values of the Bangladeshi nation.

Recalling the longstanding and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the new leadership in Dhaka to deepen cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

He emphasized the importance of advancing bilateral engagement for regional peace, stability and economic progress, while fully respecting each other’s sovereignty and equality.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also invited Tarique Rahman to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience. The invitation was warmly reciprocated.
