Muscat (TDI): Pakistan Shaheens defeated Oman by 74 runs to register their first win in the ongoing ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup on Monday afternoon at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat.
In response to Shaheens’ 186-run target, Oman ‘A’ were restricted to just 111/6 in their 20 overs.

After winning the toss, Shaheens opted to bat first and posted a sizeable total of 185/5 with the help of Qasim Akram (48), Rohail Nazir (41*) and Arafat Minhas (31*).
Pakistan lost the opening pair of Mohammad Haris and Yasir Khan inside the powerplay.
When Qasim walked in, Pakistan were 13/2 in 2.3 overs. However, a valuable 72-run stand for the third wicket between him and Omair Bin Yousuf (25 off 21) steered Shaheens to 79-2 at the halfway mark before Omair departed in the following over.

The next two batters, Rohail (41*), Abdul Samad (20), and Arafat (31*) contributed with the bat to post 185/5 on the board.
For Oman, Muzahir’ took two wickets, while Samay, Sufyan Mehmood and Wasim Ali picked up one wicket each.
In response to a massive total, Oman were restricted to 111/7 in allotted overs. Wasim Ali (28 off 31) top-scored for the home side, while Jatinder Singh also contributed with 24 off 29 balls.
For Shaheens, Zaman Khan picked up 2 for 17 while Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Imran, Qasim Akram, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Sufiyan Moqim bagged one wicket each.
The Shaheens will next play UAE in their third match of the tournament on Wednesday, October 23.
