Islamabad, 22 February 2023 (TDI): A star-studded event Sarangi Season 6 finale was arranged by Serena Hotels under its Cultural Diplomacy, on Tuesday.

The event was organized to promote the hidden talents of Pakistan by showcasing their musical skills to a wider audience. It provided an opportunity for youth to become the nation’s rising stars.

Notably, Sarangi is a music initiative that has been encouraging young and talented singers and bands to celebrate cultural heritage through their music.

For season 6, a total of 360 contestants participated in the competition, of which 5 were selected by professional jury members. Retired Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.

Contestants and Jury

The five shortlisted contestants including Asma Aslam from Karachi, Muqaddas Younas from Lahore, Minhas Khan from Islamabad, Sajjad Ali Hussain from Faisalabad, and Rahat Francis from Quetta provided an intriguing mix of musical talent.

Their training was reflected in their vocal styles as they performed in front of over 300 guests, which included diplomats, government functionaries, corporate heads, businessmen, and music lovers.

The contestants proved their flair before an acclaimed jury of musical professionals such as Sarmad Ghafoor, whose well-known works include Atif Aslam’s two platinum albums, one of them being “Jal Pari.”

The other members of the jury comprised Qawwal Asif Ali Santoo, who was in the tutelage of the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and the melodious Aima Baig, who rose to fame with the 2017 songs from the movie “Lahore Se Aagey.”

Winner of finale

The jury unanimously decided on Sajjad Ali Hussain as the winner of Sarangi Season 6. A professional production studio will produce Hussain’s first album with the support of Serena Hotel.

Sajjad Ali Hussain hails from the heart of Punjab, Faisalabad, and has participated in various musical competitions. He has been pursuing music for the past 10 years.

Asma Aslam was declared the runner-up of Season 6. Asma is an Asset Manager from Karachi where she works with Bahria Town and is a self-taught passionate singer, whose love for music made her pursue it as a hobby on her own.

The other performers were also presented with awards. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Serena Hotels, Aziz Boolani, lauded the talented performers and encouraged others to participate in the next season of Sarangi.

Boolani also appreciated the three jury members for their voluntary services in this wonderful community initiative and presented them with mementos.
