Belgrade, 10 March 2022 (TDI): Today, Serbia and Vietnam are celebrating the anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. This is the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Taking to Twitter, the Ministry of Serbia sent best wishes to the Vietnamese colleagues and the friendly people of Vietnam. Serbia and Vietnam enjoy mutually beneficial diplomatic relations.

The Republic of Serbia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam have had historical ties ever since 1957 when Serbia and Vietnam established their bilateral relations.

Serbia has no embassy in Vietnam but is represented in Vietnam through its embassy in Jakarta. Similarly, Vietnam has no embassy in Serbia but is represented in Serbia through its embassy in Bucharest.

Vietnam is always expanding its traditional partnership with the Balkan states, especially Serbia. The political and economic relations of Serbia and Vietnam are good and without any open issues.

In 2017, a high-level visit was made between Serbia and Vietnam. At the time, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić paid an official visit to SR Vietnam.

He talked with the Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc, as well as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Pham Binh Minh.

In 2017, the Prime Minister of Vietnam, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, said that the two countries had agreed on economic and trade cooperation to finalize the legal framework for bilateral economic, trade, and investment relations.

Furthermore, The two sides agreed to boost bilateral collaboration in agriculture, defense, and labor in the time to come. Last year, both countries’ Foreign Ministers agreed to strengthen cooperation in priority fields, especially politics, diplomacy, economy, and trade.

During the COVID-19 period, the Serbian government supported the Vietnamese to fight against COVID-19. Serbia donated vaccines and medical equipment to Vietnam. This donation was given based on a good friendship between the two countries.
