Entebbe, 19 July 2023 (TDI): Ugandan President Yoweri K Museveni invited the Senegalese President on a State visit to Uganda.
Senegalese President Macky Sall arrived at the Entebbe Airport with his delegation for the two-day state visit. Odongo Jeje, Ugandan Foreign Minister, welcomed the President.
President Yoweri Museveni invited President Macky Sall to the Entebbe State House, where both leaders discussed bilateral and international matters.
Both presidents were committed to expanding the relationship and appreciated the efforts of their counterparts to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
President Museveni said that Uganda has not focused on trade with Senegal and that he has agreed to increase cooperation in various fields.

He said that Uganda will cooperate in Environmental efforts, Tourism, Agriculture, and Economic sectors with increased cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
He also acknowledged the need to expand partnerships in Political and Security matters with regional or global significance.
President Sall said that Uganda exports security to various parts of the world and can be a valuable export for Senegal.
President Museveni showed President Sall a variety of dairy products made in Uganda that Senegal can export.
Fight against Terror
President Sall condemned the attack on the school in Kasese that resulted in more than 40 students’ death. The President expressed his condolences to Ugandans.
Senegalese President, on State visit to Uganda, said that the fight against terrorism needs to be continued all across the continent.
Additionally, He urged everyone to increase partnerships and deploy their resources as a team to fight the terror groups in the region.
During the discussion, both countries promote the idea of peace as both countries are part of the African Peace Initiate in Ukraine.

Both are in support of a more constructive approach to resolving the matter peacefully through dialogue and support from the global community.
