Security Officials of Uganda and Congo meet in Kisoro

Kisoro, 17 September 2021 (TDI): Security officials from Uganda and the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo met in the Kisoro district of Uganda on Wednesday to discuss methods to promote peace between the two countries.

The agenda of the meeting was to find ways of preventing citizens from illegally crossing the porous border. The conference was hosted at the Safari Homestay hotel in Kisoro and was attended by delegations of the Cross Border Trade Association, customs officers, and a business community.

Second Division Commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces Major General Francis Takirwa stated that we should improve the environment of trade for the traders from both countries so that profitable trade will be gain.

Moreover, Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson stated that illegal border entrance should be prevented security threats due to the Covid-19 pandemic should be reduced. This was the 5th meeting of the type and numerous others had been underway, RDC Mugisha Peter added.
