Brussels, 7 April 2022 (TDI): The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, met the American allies in Brussels.
The Secretary’s visit to Brussels aimed at coordinating the security policy of the US and its allies regarding the War in Ukraine.
Antony Blinken met his French, German, Italian, and British counterparts in Brussels. In the meeting, the officials reiterated their continued support for Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s invasion.
In addition, the Secretary strongly condemned the reported atrocities in the town of Bucha and across Ukraine. The officials called for accountability for Russian actions.

They discussed the best ways to continue working to isolate Russia in the international arena.
Also, they discussed ways to increase pressure on the Russian government and to advance a swift end to its devastating war against Ukraine.
Moreover, they discussed plans to provide additional humanitarian and security assistance to Ukraine.
Visit to the NATO Headquarters
Afterward, the US Secretary of State visited NATO headquarters. He met NATO Secretary-General, Jens Stoltenberg, and other NATO officials there. In the meeting, they discussed their continuing support for Ukraine and its people.
In addition, they talked about NATO’s partnership and its next Strategic Concept. The strategic concept assesses current and future threats to the international rules-based order.

“Russia’s war in Ukraine has shattered peace in Europe & has global repercussions. NATO’s next strategic concept must reflect this new security reality, a more assertive China, cyber & hybrid threats, terrorism & climate change”, said Jens Stoltenberg regarding the new strategic concept.
G7 and Spain
The secretary also met G7 representatives. “The G7 is committed to holding President Putin to account for his unprovoked war of choice and ensuring he endures a strategic defeat in Ukraine.”, he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, he also met the Foreign Minister of Spain, José Manuel Albares. He appreciated Spain’s “unwavering support” in holding Russia accountable.

Western Reaction to the War in Ukraine
The US-led allies have condemned Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and have provided military and humanitarian support to Ukraine.
Furthermore, they have imposed harsh sanctions on Russia to defeat it economically. The US tries to lead and coordinate the international reaction against Russia in all intergovernmental forums.
