Washington, 22 August 2021 (TDI): Today, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken had a phone call with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Landsbergis underlined the strength and breadth of the bilateral partnership between the United States and Lithuania.
Secretary Blinken emphasized the United States’ unwavering support for NATO Ally and EU partner Lithuania. The brutal suppression of civic society in Belarus by the Lukashenka dictatorship was also discussed by Secretary Blinken and the Foreign Minister.
The Secretary of State and Foreign Minister reiterated their unwavering support for Belarus’ pro-democracy movement and demanded that the Lukashenka dictatorship end its persecution of Belarusians and its campaign of manipulating illegal migration flows across its borders immediately.
