Secretary Blinken communicated with the Foreign Minister of Spain

The Secretary of the United States of America, Antony J. Blinken communicated with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, José Manuel Albares.

Secretary Blinken congratulated his Spanish counterpart on his new position. He further expressed gratitude to Spain for the durable, long-lasting, and friendly ties between both nations. Both officials reaffirmed their determination to promote the development of the transatlantic relationship and also their joint efforts of facing their mutual challenges.

Secretary Blinken highlighted the US commitment to support the rights to peaceful assembly, free speech, and democracy of the citizens of Cuba. He talked about supporting free and just migration, negotiations that will lead to fair and free Venezuelan elections and, highlighted concerning the situation of Nicaragua. Irregular Central American migration- a shared concern, was also discussed between the officials.
