Second Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of the parliaments of Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Turkiye

Istanbul, 22 July 2022 (TDI): The second Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye took place in Istanbul on Thursday.

The Grand National Assembly of Türkiye hosted the Second Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments.

Thus, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Mustafa Sentop, and Speakers of the Parliaments of the participating countries alongside the Foreign mission Chiefs and bureaucrats attended the meeting.

The trilateral meeting, therefore, highlighted the significance of strengthening comprehensive cooperation between Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan.

Specifically in areas that may contribute to regional connectivity, transportation, trade, energy, and relations between peoples. Along with education, social and cultural exchange, and tourism.

Chair of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the huge importance of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Turkey triple cooperation format.

Additionally, the Turkish Speaker pointed out that the world’s geopolitics and economic centers are shifting toward Asia.

Sentop affirmed that “the emergence of the New Silk Road will add a great haste to the development and rejuvenation of the region”.

“And in that project, our new initiative Middle (Transport) Corridor will be taking an important part through our new transport routes and energy transfer infrastructure investments,” Sentop added.

The meeting was concluded with the signing of the Istanbul Declaration and the joint press statement of the speakers after the signing ceremony.

Subsequently, Chairman Sentop and the Chairman of the National Assembly of Pakistan underlined the importance of the signed declaration. That is, to further enhance relations between the three countries.

First Trilateral meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments

The first Trilateral meeting took place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. In a similar manner, the meeting emphasized the significance of existing relations between Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Turkiye.

The meeting further acknowledged the necessity of enhancing the parliamentary dialogue and cooperation between the three states. Especially for further deepening the existing relations between the brotherly nations.

Above all, during the meeting, Pakistani Speaker, Asad Qaiser expressed gratitude to the governments of Azerbaijan and Turkey. Particularly for their support towards Pakistan regarding the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
