Riyadh, 3 September 2024 (TDI): The 2024 STEAM Festival has started at the King Salman Science Oasis in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focusing on nurturing the next generation of scientists.
The festival, running until September 30 under the theme “Fun Chemistry,” promises an engaging blend of education, information, and entertainment.
Ahmed Salim, the festival’s director and founder of 1001 Inventions, noted that the event is designed to address the Kingdom’s growing need for scientific expertise.
“We are showcasing the significance of science by reverse-engineering everyday objects to reveal the chemical processes behind them,” Salim said.
He emphasized that the festival aims to make chemistry more relatable and impactful for students.
The festival features over 100 workshops, panel discussions, live shows, and other activities spanning various STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) fields.
This year, the festival’s expanded focus on art—integrated into the previously STEM-based event—reflects its value in enhancing technological and engineering creativity.
Ibtesam Badhrees, chairman of the festival’s scientific committee and chief scientist at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, highlighted the festival’s role in linking science, technology, industry, and innovation.
