Tehran (TDI): Saudi Arabia, Iran, and China on Tuesday called for a comprehensive political solution to the ongoing conflict in Yemen, urging that it be pursued under the auspices of the United Nations.
The announcement came during the third meeting of the Saudi-Chinese-Iranian trilateral committee held in Tehran, aimed at reviewing progress following the Beijing Agreement, which restored diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran in March 2023 after a rupture that lasted seven years.
The meeting was chaired by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu.
During the session, the Saudi and Iranian sides reaffirmed their commitment to implementing all provisions of the Beijing Agreement, strengthening bilateral ties, and adhering to international law, including respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security.
The three countries also condemned Israeli actions in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, while emphasizing the need to respect Iran’s territorial integrity.
They reiterated their support for a comprehensive UN-backed political settlement in Yemen that aligns with internationally recognized principles.

China’s ongoing role in supporting the implementation of the Beijing Agreement was highlighted as critical, with all three nations expressing a desire to expand cooperation in political and economic areas.
They stressed that regional dialogue is key to fostering stability, security, peace, and economic prosperity in the Middle East.
Yemen has been in turmoil of civil war since 2014, when the Iran-backed Houthi group seized the capital, Sanaa, forcing the internationally recognized government to retreat south.
The conflict has caused immense human suffering, with thousands killed, millions displaced, and widespread destruction of infrastructure.
The renewed call for a diplomatic resolution underscores the continued urgency for international and regional efforts to end the hostilities.
This meeting builds on previous trilateral efforts, including the first deputy-minister-level session held in Beijing in late 2023 and the second in November 2024, reflecting ongoing collaboration among Saudi Arabia, Iran, and China to stabilize the region and promote sustainable peace.
