Riyadh, 19 September 2022 (TDI): A Delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will leave for New York on Monday, to attend the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan will be leading the delegation. Along with the Foreign Minister, Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan, Ambassador of KSA to the United States, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi will attend the session.

Moreover, KSA’s Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs and Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, Permanent Representative of KSA to the UN in New York, will also be participating in the UNGA 77th Session.

Agenda of KSA’s delegation

The Kingdom’s participation in the UNGA session this year will focus on discussing policies and strategies to promote economic and health recovery from global focuses.

Further, the delegation of KSA will discuss measures for multilateral action for achieving prosperity in the whole world. Alongside, the Ministers will have bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers of brotherly states.

The Saudi delegation will also be participating in the ministerial meeting of the Cooperation Council states with the United States of America +4 including Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, and Yemen.

Further, the Foreign Minister of KSA will also chair the Gulf side in meetings of the Arab States Cooperation Council. These meetings will be held with officials of China, the United Kingdom (UK), Russia, France, and the European Union (EU).

During his visit to New York, Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan will attend the annual coordination ministerial meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states.

He will also be attending the high-level event on the Rohingya crisis organized by the Republic of Bangladesh. Along with these, KSA’s Foreign Minister will be participating in other several events.

These include the World Food Security Summit, the ministerial level meeting of the Global Action Plan COVID-19 and the meeting of the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative.

About UNGA 77th Session

The 77th Session of UNGA commenced on 13th September 2022 by the President of the Session, Csaba Kőrösi. The session is being held at UN Headquarters in New York.

In the session, high-level debates will formally start on 20th September and last till 26th September. Along with Saudi Arabia, leaders from all the member states including Pakistan, the Republic of Turkiye, the United States, and Qatar are participating in the session.
