RIYADH, 29 August 2024 (TDI): The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued a health advisory for Hajj 2025, detailing strict health requirements for pilgrims.
According to the Religious Affairs spokesperson, individuals with complex medical conditions will not be allowed to travel Saudi Arabia and undertake the pilgrimage.
Due to anticipated severe weather conditions during the Hajj season, the advisory states that only those in good health and with sufficient energy will be permitted to perform Hajj.
People with serious health issues such as kidney, heart, lung, or liver conditions, cancer, dementia, or infectious diseases like tuberculosis (TB) and whooping cough will not be allowed to participate. Additionally, children under 12 years old and pregnant women will be barred from performing Hajj.
The spokesperson also stressed that all pilgrims must receive vaccinations for meningitis, COVID-19, seasonal influenza, and polio before embarking on the pilgrimage.
It is pertinent to mention here that at least 1,301 people were died during Hajj 2024, Saudi Arabia says, mostly unauthorised pilgrims who walked long distances in intense heat.
