Saudi Ambassador commends Pakistan’s Health Initiatives

Islamabad, 7 September 2023 (TDI): Nawaf Saeed A. Al Malkiy, the Saudi Ambassador in Pakistan met with Dr. Nadeem Jan, the caretaker Federal Minister of Health in Islamabad today.

The two sides discussed a multitude of issues pertaining to mutual interest. During the meeting, Dr. Nadeem Jan also received congratulations from the Saudi Envoy on taking over the Ministry of Health’s charge.

In this vein, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia remarked that the selection of a Global Health Expert for such a role is encouraging.

Likewise, the discussions were focused on themes of shared interest and bilateral cooperation. It’s noteworthy that Saudi Arabia has a strong commitment to Pakistan and the well-being of its people.

The caretaker Federal Minister of Health on his part noted that there are historical and religious ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Also, he acknowledged and respected Saudi commitment to Pakistan.

He also highlighted that Saudi Arabia has always stood behind Pakistan in times of crisis and the people-to-people connection between two countries is strong.

Furthermore, the caretaker Health Minister shared his integrated plan for the growth of the health sector in accordance with the vision of the caretaker Prime Minister.

In this regard, he accentuated that Pakistan is the first country in the world to host the Global Health Security Summit.

Pakistan has developed an integrated strategy to promote pharmaceutical industry exports. Along these lines, the Minister revealed that effective initiatives were being implemented to strengthen the capability of the pharmaceutical industry.

Moreover, it was agreed during the meeting to encourage medical tourism in this industry, which has enormous investment potential.

The Saudi Ambassador stated that Pakistan’s medical industry will benefit his country. He lauded the recently formed Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as an excellent effort that will encourage investment in the country.
