Washington DC, 17 September 2021 (TDI): A special event was held at the Embassy in which Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Senator Dr. Sania Nishtar, and Chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) of Pakistan, Muhammad Tariq Malik, participated. The event was attended by prominent members of the Pakistani community and representatives from ethnic media.
Welcoming the honorable guests, Ambassador Dr. Asad Majeed Khan highlighted the significance of the initiatives taken by the Poverty Alleviation and Social Security Division and NADRA in providing relief to the people of Pakistan in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In her remarks, Special Assistant to Prime Minister, Senator Dr. Sania Nishter conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Imran Khan to the members of the diaspora in the US and assured them that the government was committed to their welfare. Dr. Sania Nishtar briefed the audience about the Ehsaas program. She said that Ehsaas is a large umbrella initiative of 19 large programs, which are aimed at poverty alleviation, welfare, and social protection for 14 targeted groups comprising poor segments of the society.
Mr. Muhammad Tariq Malik, Chairman NADRA briefed the audience about the recent revolutionary initiatives taken by NADRA to facilitate the public including the Pak ID App and issuance of Letters of Administration and Succession Certificates. He added that the initiative to issue letters of Administration and Succession Certificates has not only facilitated the common people but has also reduced 30% workload of the courts. Chairman NADRA also informed the audience about the measures being undertaken by NADRA to mitigate the difficulties faced by overseas Pakistanis in executing Power of Attorneys through the use of the latest digital tools.
The event also included a questions and answers session. Both the guests gave detailed replies to various questions about the Ehsaas program and the services provided by NADRA.
