Rwanda High Commission Hosts Business Luncheon to Explore Trade Opportunities
Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan’s Minister for Board of Investment (BOI), Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, attended a luncheon hosted by the High Commission of Rwanda in Pakistan, as a chief guest.
The luncheon was held in connection with exploring business, trade, and investment opportunities between Pakistan and Rwanda. The Minister of Trade and Industry of Rwanda, Prudence Sebahizi, who is currently on a visit to Pakistan, was also present on the occasion.
The High Commission also organized a coffee festival in Islamabad on Thursday, coinciding with the trade minister’s visit, to promote coffee as an export product among Pakistani businesses.
The festival was jointly inaugurated by Pakistan’s commerce minister Jam Kamal Khan and minister Prudence Sebahizi, featuring exhibition during the day time and a panel discussion in the evening.
At the luncheon, BOI minister warmly welcomed the visiting minister and appreciated the proactive role of the Rwanda High Commission in facilitating closer economic engagement between the two countries. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral trade, investment cooperation, and private sector linkages.
Qaiser Sheikh appreciated the investment-friendly environment and emerging opportunities in Rwanda, noting that Pakistan is also undertaking similar regulatory and policy reforms to facilitate investors, improve ease of doing business, and promote sustainable economic growth.
The minister briefed the Rwandan delegation and business participants on Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs), offering sector-specific incentives, modern infrastructure and investor facilitation.
He also highlighted the role of the Business Facilitation Centre (BFC) as a single-window platform providing end-to-end services to local and foreign investors.
The event was attended by notable members of business community, reflecting strong private sector interest in expanding Pakistan–Rwanda economic ties.
The Rwanda side was represented by Harerimana Fatou – High Commissioner of Rwanda to Pakistan, Doreen Ntawebasa – Director General (Trade and Industry) at National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) of Rwanda, and Claude Bizimana – the CEO of NAEB.
