Rwanda and Mozambique army take key towns back from militants

Mozambique, 12 August 2021 (TDI): The Rwandan and Mozambique government forces have taken back the key towns from militant groups linked to the Islamic State (ISIS). It was situated in the north of Mozambique named Mocimboa da Praia which was controlled by militants since August 2020.

Mozambique government needs to quickly ensure humanitarian ads for the people remained under militants’ control for one year. The United Nations World Food Program and the Doctors without borders were at work there but, left the place last year for security measures and the town remained without food and medical supplies.  Most of the people were displaced walking many days without water and food to the provincial capital shores, Pemba, and other places from the town last year during armed groups attacks.
