Russian Gas Flow to Uzbekistan Surges

Moscow (TDI): Russia’s gas deliveries to Uzbekistan have crossed the 5 billion cubic meter mark, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced.

The supplies, which began in October 2023, are part of a two-year agreement established between Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

Under the contract between Gazprom and UzGasTrade, Russian gas is transported through Kazakhstan to meet Uzbekistan’s energy needs.

Zakharova noted that Russian energy giants Gazprom and LUKOIL are also advancing several projects aimed at developing gas fields within Uzbekistan, with plans for further expansion in the gas sector.

“The volume of gas supplies has now surpassed 5 billion cubic meters,” she stated, underscoring the strength of the energy partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan, free of any significant issues.

All matters related to the gas partnership are being addressed constructively, Zakharova said, with regular high-level meetings to discuss energy cooperation.

This year’s key talks included Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Uzbekistan from May 26-28 and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s visit on September 9-10, where energy collaboration featured prominently.

“Energy cooperation is a core component of our bilateral relationship,” Zakharova emphasized, adding that diplomatic channels are actively engaged to ensure smooth and uninterrupted progress in this strategic sector.
