Moscow, 23 February 2022 (TDI): Russian diplomats have evacuated from Ukraine amid the Russian and Ukraine Conflict. The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement in this regard. The statement was issued on February 23.

Armed Coup of 2014

As per remarks of the Foreign Ministry, an armed coup in Kyiv removed the President of Ukraine in 2014. The statement further reads that those radical forces waged war on the Russian language and renounced their ideology of nationalism.

In addition to that, their tactics included repression of those who disagreed as well. Accordingly, the insurgents disregarded political solutions for the internal crisis of Ukraine.

Earlier, the Russian President explained the context of the background crisis armed coup of 2014 which initiated the Russia and Ukraine conflict.

President Victor Yanukovych signed the Agreement

The statement further emphasized that the President of Ukraine, Victor Yanukovych, signed an agreement with the opposition on February 21, 2014.

Accordingly, Poland, France, and Germany provided guarantees to protect the interests of all stakeholders of the region. This was also essential to calm the region.

Lawlessness in Ukraine

The statement also reads that opposition forces trampled the peace plan on 22 February 2014. Unfortunately, this led to lawlessness and chaos in the country. As a result, Russophobia became a norm in Ukraine and continues till today.

Along these lines, the statement also added that persecution of the canonical Orthodox Church and seizure of churches provoked a deep church schism.

It further states that law enforcement agencies and the government were involved in the mentioned incidents. Besides, the statement highlighted that Kyiv authorities used decommunization to attack the history of the country.

Moreover, the statement also noted the extrajudicial reprisals against the political opponents along with the unchecked media censorship. It is pertinent to note that the statement criticized the ‘Ukrainian Style Democracy’ as well.

Attacks on Russian Embassy and Consulate Generals

Thereupon, the statement mentioned the attacks on Russian Embassy in Kyiv and Consulates General in Kharkov, Lvov, and Odesa. The Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Kyiv also witnessed attacks.

Similarly, the statement pointed out that perpetrators targeted the Russian diplomats and staff members. This was the blatant violation of the Vienna Conventions on diplomatic and consular relations.

Evacuation of Russian Diplomats

Therefore, the statement explained that it is the priority of the Russian Federation to take care of Russian diplomats and staff members of both the Consulate General and Embassy.

In brief, the Russian leaders have announced to evacuate the staff members of the Russian foreign mission in Ukraine.

Emergency in Ukraine

Considering the current state of affairs, Ukraine has declared a nationwide emergency. It has also advised its nationals to leave the country amid Russia and Ukraine conflict.
