Russian Deputy FM Explores Taxila Museum During Pakistan Visit

Taxila (TDI): The Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Andrey Rudenko, explored the ancient city of Taxila during his official visit to Pakistan. He visited Taxila Museum, on Thursday, which contains a comprehensive collection of Gandhara artifacts and Buddhist archaeological monuments.

He was accompanied by a Pakistani official who gave him a tour of the museum’s extensive collection of Gandhara art and ancient relics.

During his visit to the Taxila Museum, he also wrote his remarks and observations about the museum in the visitor’s book and expressed appreciation for the diplomatic gift given by the Government of Punjab.

Taxila Museum, which is located near the ruins of the ancient city of Taxila, is known for showcasing historical artifacts from previous civilizations including Buddhist, Hindu, and Indo-Green civilizations, which date back nearly 2000 years.

During the visit, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to preserve the historical heritage and emphasized strengthening cultural diplomacy between Pakistan and Russia.

The Deputy Foreign Minister’s visit to the ancient city of Taxila came as part of his official visit to Pakistan to attend the sixth round of Pakistan-Russia Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC), held in Islamabad on April 23.

The consultation provided a platform for both countries to exchange in-depth views on bilateral relations, and regional and global developments.

Pakistan’s delegation, during the consultations, was headed by the Special Secretary, Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan who welcomed the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia to Pakistan.

During the Bilateral Political Consultations, both sides expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in Pakistan-Russia relations and hoped to enhance further collaboration and trade in energy, agriculture, information technology, defense, and pharmaceutical sectors.

The recent consultation was part of a series of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) between Pakistan and Russia. It began in the early 2000s, and since then, it has provided a platform to both countries for structured diplomatic engagement.
