Russian Delegation Promotes Higher Education Opportunities for Pakistani Students

Islamabad (TDI): A Russian delegation visited Pakistan from October 24 to 26 to deliver a series of lectures aimed at strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The sessions, held at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) and the Pakistan Institute for Trade and Development (PITAD), focused on educational opportunities for Pakistani students in Russia and the growing role of technology in education.

The visiting delegation included Ruslan Prokhorov – head of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Karachi, Roman Porozov – Associate Professor at the Ural State Pedagogical University, and Gleb Shubin – Cultural and Education Attaché at the Russian Embassy in Islamabad.

During their lectures, the Russian representatives introduced students and faculty to the Russian government scholarship program for the 2026–2027 academic year.

They outlined the application process, eligibility criteria, and fields of study available to international students at Russian universities. Applications are open until January 15, 2026, exclusively through the official portal.

Prokhorov also discussed Russia’s advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and the integration of cutting-edge technologies into the education sector.

He highlighted the achievements of Russian IT corporations that are using AI to improve learning outcomes, streamline administrative systems, and expand digital access to higher education.

Students were encouraged to explore Russia’s educational landscape not only as a means of academic development but also as an opportunity for intercultural exchange.

The lectures were well-received by Pakistani students and faculty, reflecting growing interest in Russia–Pakistan educational collaboration.

The initiative aligns with broader diplomatic efforts by both countries to expand people-to-people ties, especially through academic and cultural exchange programs.

Officials from FUUAST and PITAD expressed appreciation for the outreach and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening partnerships with Russian academic institutions.
