New York, 16 September 2021(TDI): On 15th-September 2021, Permanent Representative of the Russia wrote a letter to UN authorities.
The letter addresses the 76th UNGA president Abdulla Shahid. It also mentioned the General-Secretary of the UN Antonio Guterres, and the member states of the UN . The primary purpose of the letter was to address the new vaccination requirements issued by the UN. The newly generated notification requires complete vaccination of all the members. The members should possess the Proof for entry in the General Assembly hall.
Ambassador Nebenzia further wrote in the letter that the requirements are opposing to the UN charter. Permanent Representative of the Russia called the notification discriminatory. Reasons like health issues, medical issues he mentioned might be reason for the delegates not being vaccinated.
Permanent Representative of the Russia mentioned in the letter that stopping the delegate’s access to the UN headquarters is a violation of the UN Charter. He further asked the General-Secretary and the UNGA President for an urgent meeting to discuss the issue on 16th-September 2021.
