Kyiv (TDI): Russia launched deadly overnight missile and drone barrages on Kyiv, killing six people, while Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s Rostov region left at least three dead, officials said Tuesday.
The escalation comes as negotiators struggle over a new US-led proposal to end the nearly three-year war.
Kyiv authorities reported casualties in the Svyatoshynsky district and the Dniprovsky area, while Moscow claimed to have downed 249 Ukrainian drones, one of the highest numbers reported since the war began.
In Russia, regional leaders described the Ukrainian assaults on Rostov and Krasnodar as among the most intense in months.

The spike in violence coincides with growing tension around a 28-point US peace plan initially presented by President Donald Trump, which Kyiv and European leaders rejected for mirroring Moscow’s hard-line demands, including territorial concessions and abandoning NATO ambitions.
An updated draft, aimed at safeguarding Ukraine’s sovereignty, was discussed during emergency talks in Geneva over the weekend. Kyiv’s delegation said the revised version now reflects “most of Ukraine’s key priorities,” and allies are expected to hold further talks via video link on Tuesday.

President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia would not ease military pressure, calling the moment “critical” for Ukraine’s dignity and its alliance with Washington. Moscow, meanwhile, has welcomed elements of the original plan, with President Vladimir Putin threatening to seize more territory if Kyiv withdraws from negotiations.
The United States has denied accusations of favoring Russia. The conflict, Europe’s deadliest since World War II, has killed tens of thousands since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.
