Islamabad (TDI): Over thirty tons of humanitarian aid from Russia reached Pakistan ahead of Eid ul Fitr. The aid was received in an official ceremony.
A special flight organized by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, in collaboration with the Russian Embassy in Pakistan, delivered the aid package containing food, medicine, clothing, and other essential supplies.
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society has been designated to receive and distribute these items to individuals and families in need.
The ceremony was attended by Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, and Representatives from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

In his talk at the ceremony, Ambassador Khorev highlighted the significance of humanitarian cooperation in strengthening Russia-Pakistan relations, noting that bilateral ties are at their highest point in history.
He reiterated Russia’s commitment to supporting the people of Pakistan during challenging times.
Earlier in January, Ambassador Khorev highlighted Russia’s desire to enhance cooperation across various sectors to support Pakistan’s economy, emphasizing the mutually beneficial aspects of improved trade relations.

He noted that economic ties had already seen considerable progress, with a 50% increase in trade turnover over the past five years.
In October 2024, during a significant meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and a distinguished parliamentary delegation from Russia, led by Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, both countries expressed their mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation across key areas, including trade, investment, agriculture, and energy sectors.
The provision of humanitarian aid aligns with Russia’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence and influence in South and Southeast Asia.
By supporting Pakistan during times of need, Russia is addressing immediate humanitarian concerns but is also fostering goodwill and trust, laying the groundwork for expanded collaboration in various domains.
