Moscow, 29 August 2024 (TDI): Russia’s Foreign Ministry has added 92 more Americans to its list of American citizens banned from travelling to Russia.
It includes journalists, businessmen and some law enforcement personnel. The Ministry has said that the ban was put in due to the Russophobic policies of Biden’s administration.
New Additions to Russia’s Travel Ban
In an official statement, Russia’s Foreign Ministry announced the addition of 92 more Americans to its travel ban list.
The ban imposed due to the Russophobic course adopted by the Biden administration aimed at ‘inflicting a strategic defeat on Moscow,” the statement says.
In the new list of banned Americans are five journalists from the New York Times including Kyiv Bureau Chief Andrew Kramer.
Four journalists of The Washington Post and 11 current or former staff members of The Wall Street Journal, including Editor-in-Chief Emma Tucker are also on the list.
Emma had previously criticized Russia for the arrest and conviction of WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich on espionage charges.
Other Americans on the list include individuals working for law enforcement agencies, academics, and figures from businesses and think tanks. The ministry also noted that Russia has now banned over 2,000 Americans from entry.
Russian Ministry has announced the country is “permanently closed” to the 92 individuals on the list. The list extends to American government officials from the Justice Department, Treasury Department, and Space Force.
In addition, there are also academics, including professors from Harvard University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Virginia University.
Russia’s Justification for the Ban
The banned journalists are part of the liberal-globalist publications that tend to speak misinformation and fake news about Russia, the statement says.
