Russia Condemns Recent Terrorist Attacks in Pakistan

Moscow, 27 August 2024 (TDI): Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Maria Zakharova condemns recent terrorist attacks in the province of Balochistan, Pakistan. She said that the Russian Federation is deeply saddened about the loss of dozens of lives in the attacks.

Recent Violent Incidents in Balochistan, Pakistan

In the past two days, several violent incidents have occurred in Balochistan province, southwestern Pakistan. According to military and police officials, over 70 people have lost their lives in these attacks. Among the casualties, 14 soldiers and police officers were killed. The military has reported that 21 militants were also killed in the operations.

Russia’s Condolence Statement

In light of these tragic events, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, issued a condolence statement. She expressed deep sadness over the loss of several dozen lives in Pakistan following the brutal militant attacks in Balochistan Province on August 25 and 26. She extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families, and the people and government of Pakistan, during this difficult time. 

Solidarity with Pakistan Against Global Terrorism

Maria Zakharova, Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia further emphasized that Russia’s thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the tragedy. On behalf of the Russian Federation, she extended condolences to the families of the victims. In addition, she wished a speedy recovery for those who were injured in the unfortunate accident.

She said that Russia stands in solidarity with Pakistan against the threat of global terrorism. Zakharova further emphasized Russia’s unwavering commitment to enhancing constructive cooperation with Pakistan in counterterrorism efforts. She highlighted that this cooperation is crucial not only within multilateral formats, such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) but also on a bilateral level.
