MOSCOW, September 10, 2024 (TDI): Russia has claimed to have captured Krasnogorivka, a town in eastern Ukraine, along with three villages in various parts of the Donetsk region.
The Russia defence ministry claimed to have “liberated” Krasnogorivka, which had a pre-conflict population of 16,000 and is situated in a sector where the front line has remained relatively stable for weeks.
Russia asserts control over several towns and villages in the region as Ukrainian forces face significant challenges.
In a separate development, authorities in Russia’s Tula region reported that drone wreckage landed on a fuel and energy facility.
However, they stated that the incident did not disrupt the facility’s “technological process.” The Tula region, located south of Moscow, has been targeted in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
This incident is part of a series of Ukrainian drone attacks that began in early September, primarily targeting Russian energy and power infrastructure.
The full impact of these strikes is often not disclosed by Russian officials.
Ukraine has been pushing the United States for approval to use more advanced Western-supplied weapons to strike deeper into Russian territory, aiming to weaken Moscow’s military capabilities, which began with the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
As the conflict persists, both nations are escalating their military strategies, increasing the potential for further confrontation.

Earlier on Sunday, Ukraine and Russia accused each other of carrying out airstrikes on border regions.
Ukrainian officials reported that two people were killed and four injured in the Sumy region, while Russia claimed that three civilians were injured in Belgorod.
The Ukrainian military administration in Sumy confirmed that among the wounded were two children, and reported damage to several residential buildings and vehicles.
