Royal Saudi Air Force Joins Search and Rescue Exercise in Türkiye

Anatolia (TDI): The international combat search and rescue drills Phoenix of Anatolia started on Monday at Türkiye’s Konya Air Base, with the Royal Saudi Air Force joining units from several other nations.

Lt. Col. Pilot Abdulrahman Al-Mansour, head of the Saudi team, stated that they brought two Cougar search and rescue helicopters, complete with full aircrews and technical support.

“Our contingent includes 6 air controllers and aims to improve preparedness in realistic conditions while exchanging expertise and experience with other militaries,” Al-Mansour said.

The 11-day exercise focuses on combat search and rescue operations that back broader air missions. One main aim of the exercise is training tactical air control units to coordinate with allied systems, according to Saudi media.

The Kingdom’s delegation arrived last week and was welcomed by Rear Adm. Abdullah bin Gaith, Saudi Arabia’s military attache in Ankara.
