Romanian President terms climate report a wake up call

Bucureşti, 10 August 2021 (TDI): On Monday, the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis took notice of the importance of the climate report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

He said that the climate report should be a wake-up call for the negligence of biodiversity as climate disasters are gradually worsening and becoming frequent.

According to climate reports, scientists see broad changes in the Earth’s climate almost in every region and it is irreversible. Rapid warming in the regions with increasing heatwaves, longer warmer seasons, and shorter winter seasons are already taking place. If the current situation continues then the present global warming level of 1.

5°C will be crossed.

The President stated that we have to take steps at the national level, regional level, and global level because it is our collective responsibility to take rapid action.
