Romanian Armed Forces Day Celebrated

Islamabad, 22 October 2021 (TDI):  On the occasion of the Anniversary of the Romanian Armed Forces Day, the Embassy of Romania celebrated Defence Day with national spirit and enthusiasm.  The special reception was hosted by Col Veza Leonard, Defence Attache of Embassy of Romania to Pakistan at a local hotel. Vice Admiral Faisal Rasul Lodhi, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff was Chief Guest on the occasion.

In his welcome speech, the Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan Nicolae Goia said that on 25th October 1944, the Romanian Army had liberated the last inch of our homeland territory from alien occupation. The sacrifices of more than 700.000 militaries who paid the ultimate price during the four years of fierce battles, made Romania the fourth contributing power in defeating Fascism in WWII. Seventy-seven years later, Ambassador said that Romania is a powerful state that allies and partners can rely on as a pillar of stability and security provider in the region and worldwide. He further added about the Army that is operating with the highest standards, ready and fully prepared to contribute towards the protection of European and democratic community values.

Ambassador further said that presently, Romania`s Army takes part in various international peacekeeping, combatting terrorism and humanitarian missions in the most difficult and sensitive regions of the Planet. Romania is proud that two Romanian officers are currently serving in UNMOGIP.

Ambassador has also appreciated the efforts of the Pakistani Army and the good relations existing between the military and ministries of defense from both sides.  The high level of interaction between the embassy and prominent commanders of the Pakistani Armed Forces has identified a large number of fields where Pakistan and Romania can strengthen and diversify the cooperation.
