Romanian Ambassador calls on Pakistan Air Chief

Islamabad, June 16, 2021 (TDI): Ambassador of Romania Nicolae Goia paid a visit to Air Headquarters today and met Pakistan Air Chief Marshall, Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sindhu.

According to the DGPR Pakistan Air Forces, two dignitaries discussed various matters of mutual interest & professional support in the meeting. 

The Ambassador praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force and acknowledged its indigenization initiatives. Air Chief Marshall said that Pakistan and Romania enjoyed cordial relations with each other and extended his all-out support to strengthen mutual cooperation between Air Forces of both countries. 
Pakistan-Romania Defence Ties

The Pakistan-Romanian relationship has evolved on many fronts since 1964 at the time of the foundation of the diplomatic relations.  Both the countries have also developed strong economic, trade, and cultural ties, based on decades-old history.

At present, both countries are building to expand their economic cooperation as well as to enhance their import and export ties. Pakistan and Romania had agreed to expand their bilateral defense cooperation and had also signed various agreements on defense production and relevant areas.  Both countries have had a deep-rooted historical friendship and traditional cooperation in many fields for the past many years but there is a need to enhance trade volume between both countries. Both states intended to increase and diversify the commercial exchanges between Romania and Pakistan, in a balanced manner for exports and imports

Romania and Pakistan have the potential to collaborate and build their resources and energies.  Romania and Pakistan share common sectors of interest including geographical interest both geographically like for example Near East, Northern Africa, etc. Along with defense ties and investment opportunities, both countries have the potential to increase collaboration in the sectors of  IT and communications, civil constructions and infrastructure, agriculture.

Pakistan-Romania Humanitarian Assistance

Romania has helped Pakistan in the earthquake of 2005 and sent to Pakistan humanitarian aid of €105’000 consisting of medicine, isothermal tents, blankets, first aid kits, and other goods helpful for the people in need. Similarly, Romania reciprocated assistance, Pakistan provided Romania with humanitarian aid of €100’000, following the floods of summer 2010 which struck the country.
