Dhaka, 22 August 2022 (TDI): Minister of Labour of Qatar, Ali bin Saeed bin Al Samikh Al Marri paid a visit to the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Abdul Momen, on Monday.

During the meeting, Qatar’s Labour Minister said that Qatar would like to recruit skilled/semi-skilled workers from the Republic of Bangladesh to Qatar in the field of medicine and health, driving, hospitality, and Information technology sector.
Further, he expressed satisfaction with the contribution of the Bangladeshi community living in Qatar. Labour Minister Ali bin Saeed bin Al Samikh Al Marri, appreciated the role of Bangladeshi expatriates in developing the economy of Bangladesh as well as Qatar.
Foreign Minister’s remarks
Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. Momen briefed Qatar’s Labour Minister about the initiatives taken by the Government of Bangladesh led by Prime Minister of the country Sheikh Hasina Wajid, for skill development to meet growing demand in the domestic sector as well as abroad.
He appreciated the role and cooperation of the Government of Qatar in supplying Liquified Natural Gas to Bangladesh. Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Momen, lauded the role of Qatar for its mediation in the Palestine, Afghanistan, Sudan, and Chad crises.
Economic cooperation
Qatar’s Minister appreciated the fast-growing development of Bangladesh’s economy despite the COVID pandemic.
The Foreign Minister highlighted trade and investment opportunities in his country and requested Qatar’s investment in Bangladesh, especially in special economic zones.
Qatar’s Labour Minister said that Qatar will passionately explore investment scope in the Republic of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh and Qatar enjoy extensive diplomatic relations since 1978. Bilateral relations between the two countries have developed and gradually improved over time, especially through mutual visits of high-level officials.
