Doha, 24 August 2022 (TDI): Qatar Fund for Development in cooperation with Qatar Charity and the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Sudan provided emergency support to Sudan.

The support aimed at Sudan’s relief efforts for the floods and torrential rains that swept different parts of the country.

The Qatar Fund for Development, in cooperation with the Qatar Emiri Air Force, implemented the directives of the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Additionally, Qatar’s Ambassador to Sudan, Abdul Rahman bin Ali Al-Kubaisi led the field teams of Qatar Charity to provide aid on the ground.

Moreover, the Qatar Permanent Committee for Rescue, Relief and Humanitarian Aid transferred the aid to affected areas in friendly countries.

Furthermore, Abdul Rahman bin Ali Al Kubaisi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sudan, and Ahmed Adam Bakheet, Minister of Social Development and Commissioner-General of Humanitarian Aid in Sudan received the aid planes.

Remarks by Ambassador of Qatar

Abdul Rahman bin Ali, the Ambassador of Qatar to Sudan, noted that the assistance comes under the directives of the Amir of Qatar to mitigate the effects of torrential rains and floods in many states.

Two aid planes delivered 68 tons of foodstuffs and 700 tents. Additionally, shelter supplies such as mattresses and blankets were also delivered.

He also expressed hope that the provided aid would contribute to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the floods.

Remarks by Qatar’s Minister of Social Development

Ahmed Adam Bakheet, Qatar’s Minister of Social Development, underscored that Qatari support helped Sudan to face the effects of torrential rains and floods.

Furthermore, he underlined Qatar’s continuous humanitarian efforts to support their brothers in Sudan.
