Nouakchott, 17 March 2023 (TDI): In the 49th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi represented his country.

Crises Situation
Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi expressed solidarity with the brothers in Turkiye and Syria, who are still suffering from the effects of the earthquake disaster.
He stressed that the State of Qatar provided urgent humanitarian and relief aid and would continue to provide more.
The Foreign Minister of Qatar highlighted that the Muslim world faces complex international challenges because of political crises and conflicts, and the faltering efforts to achieve sustainable development.
Likewise, other challenges faced by the Muslim world include the food security crisis, the worsening of the climate crisis, and the continued vulnerability of countries to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the wake of this crisis, Sultan Bin Saad Al Muraikhi affirmed the State of Qatar’s priority in providing assistance to developing countries to achieve sustainable development goals, which are essential for political and social stability and prosperity.
The State of Qatar will continue its active role and support in upholding the values and principles of cooperation, partnership, and solidarity by helping countries, peoples, and communities suffering from economic crises, conflicts, poverty, and debt.
Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs)
Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi highlighted the achievement of the State of Qatar in hosting the Conference on LDCs.
Qatar pledged to provide more than US $1.3 billion in the form of grants, investments, loans, aid, development projects, and technical support, focusing on implementing the Doha Program of Action (DPoA) to the LDCs.
He also stressed that Qatar and the United Nations opened the UN House in Doha, based on offices of 12 international organizations whose activities cover peace-building, counter-terrorism, development, and humanitarian support.
Palestinian Issue
Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi stated that the issue of Palestine is a central issue for the Muslim countries and the State of Qatar would continue to support this cause.
The State of Qatar believes in a comprehensive plan for creating and maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East. He condemned the use of force by the Israeli forces on Palestinians.
