Doha, 9 November 2021 (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, met the delegation from the Pacific council on international policy, today.
The meeting took place in Doha capital of Qatar. The two sides then discussed the internal and external matters including, bilateral relationships between the United States of America and Qatar.
The Pacific council is an international platform founded in 1995, that aims to promote global engagement across Los Angeles, and California. The Council aims to build skills, of local citizens to learn about global affairs. PAC also exports the talent of Los Angeles to the world.
QATAR-UNITED STATES RELATION
The Senator, Chris Coons, the delegation of Congress, conducted the meeting. The meeting highlighted relations and cooperation between the United States of America and Qatar. The US Department of State mentioned that the US established bilateral relations with Qatar in 1972. Currently, both coordinate closely in several regional and also global issues.
Their partnership has contributed to maintaining stability, and also progress in the region. Both countries also cooperate in security matters in the Persian Gulf region, by hosting the Al-Udeid base. Qatar also has the headquarters of CENTCOM, and the country is also supporting NATO, as well the diverse US military operations.
According to the Department of State, their economic ties are quite extensive. Then it is mentioned that the US is Qatar’s largest foreign investor, and they are also its largest source of exports. The United States Trade Representative Office remarked that Qatar was in 2019 their 50th largest goods trading partner.
The International and regional developments of both the countries would increase the partnership. The official visit covered the discussion on the military and then the strategic powers of the states. The two countries shared to strengthen it in all sectors and also to crucial areas of the association.
