Doha, 19 December 2023 (TDI): State of Qatar is celebrating its National Day across the country with immense joy and pride. National Day of Qatar marks the celebration of the founder of state and the unification of different tribes in Qatari Peninsula under the rule of the Al Thani family.
December 18th, 1878 marks the event when Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani succeeded his father Sheikh Muhammad bin Thani as the ruler of Qatar. Qatar became a country with vision, a country that would find unity, grow rapidly, and reach towards ever higher height.
The National Day also referred to as the Founder’s Day, commemorates the rise of Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani as the founder of the State of Qatar.
The holiday was founded in 2007 following a decree by the then Crown Prince and the current Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hammad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
It was to give people an occasion to honor the history and identity of their country and to commemorate those who have worked and continue to work to make Qatar a great nation.
The Emir of the State of Qatar, Tamim bin Hammad Al Thani, on the occasion of National Day in a statement said that “Our sincere heartfelt congratulations to our dear people and residents of Qatar on the Occasion of National Day, wishing them continued progress and prosperity.”
The National Day celebrations are marked with an official national holiday across the country and a national parade by armed forces and Amiri guards in Doha, the parade is also marked by the presence of Qatari Royal Family.
The National Day celebrations also witness classic car shows, Qataris decorate their cars and homes with national flags and patriotic symbols and slogans. It also displays shows of fireworks to celebrate its rich past and bright future.
