The Hague, 29 May 2022 (TDI): The Representatives of Pakistan Youth and Student Association (PYSA), Delft visited the Embassy of Pakistan in the Netherlands.

In their discussions, they highlighted the opportunities for Pakistani students in the universities of the Netherlands and the role of students in linking the community abroad.

Previous developments

Pakistan has been counting on the Netherlands’ support for basic education in the past.

For that reason, former Netherlands Minister for Development Cooperation, Agnes van Ardenne, announced 35 million dollars for the year 2006.

This was during her meeting with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at the time. Above all, the Netherlands was committed to contributing toward the goal of all children attending school.

During that time, the announcement made by the Minister meant that the Netherlands intended to expand their development cooperation in the area of basic education. Thus, focusing on early childhood education and quality of education including textbooks.

In 2005, van Ardenne expressed that there should be education for all children in Pakistan. Also, with equal opportunities for boys and girls by the year 2015.

In light of the Netherlands’ contribution, it was meant to encourage provinces in the country to implement and develop their education plans and achieve Millennium Development Goals. That is, through advisory services and financial assistance from the Netherlands.

Political Consultations

Additionally, both countries have held the 8th round of their Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) virtually in 2020.

They discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, encompassing political, economic, trade and investment. Including climate change, and cooperation on multilateral issues together with developments in their specific regions.

As they expressed satisfaction with the constant growth in bilateral links, it was repeated that high-level interactions were required for strengthening relations further.

Both sides further showed satisfaction at the level of cooperation at international fora and at the UN. Thereby, they made an agreement to proceed in supporting each other.
