TEHRAN, (TDI): President Vladimir Putin of Russia has accepted a proposal to establish a strategic partnership deal with Iran.
This decision follows a suggestion from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was coordinated with relevant federal agencies. The announcement was made public on Russia’s legal information system.
During a recent high-level meeting in Tehran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian engaged in discussions with Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia.
Pezeshkian said that the 14th government is committed to enhancing cooperation and strengthening ties between the two nations, stating that closer relations would help mitigate the impact of sanctions and other unjust actions against them.

Last week, during a meeting with Ali Akbar Ahmadian, representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader, who attended a BRICS meeting in St. Petersburg, President Putin reiterated Moscow’s support for Iran’s transit routes.
He characterized the relationship between Moscow and Tehran as strategic, highlighting their unity.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that the comprehensive cooperation deal will be finalized soon, describing it as a symbolic step in strengthening ties with the new Iranian government.
He noted that only technical details remain to be resolved, and the agreement will encompass all facets of the partnership between the two countries.
