ISLAMABAD 03 Sep 2024 (TDI): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has advanced in its process for launching 5G technology by receiving technical bids from five international consulting firms.
The submission of these bids marks a significant step towards the PTA’s goal of rolling out 5G services in Pakistan by April 2025, as outlined by the Government of Pakistan. The firms involved are Aetha Consulting Limited, Detecon Consulting FZ-LLC, Frontier Economics Limited, KomKonsult (Private) Limited, and National Economic Research Associates Inc.
These international consultants are vying to be selected as the PTA’s advisor for the upcoming 5G spectrum auction. The PTA’s evaluation process will begin with a thorough review of the technical proposals submitted by these firms. This evaluation is critical as it will determine which consultant will advance to the next stage where financial bids will be assessed.
Following the review of the technical bids, the PTA will solicit financial bids from the firms. The selection process will adhere to the guidelines set by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), ensuring a transparent and fair evaluation.

The chosen consultant will play a pivotal role in advising on the spectrum auction and preparing a comprehensive report based on consultations with stakeholders.
The selected consultancy firm will be responsible for providing expert recommendations that will influence the framework for Pakistan’s 5G launch. This report is expected to guide the PTA in making informed decisions regarding the deployment of 5G technology, thereby supporting the broader objective of enhancing Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) in the country.
